Enhancement in Navisworks 2014

Constraining Measurement Direction in Navisworks 2014

In Navisworks 2014, a unique feature Locking has been added using which you can constrain the direction of measurement. You can constrain the direction in x, y, and z axes and also in the parallel or perpendicular to the surface of an object. Figure 1 displays the distance measured by using the Perpendicular lock option. The various lock options are available in the Review > Measure> Lock drop-down.

Autodesk Vasari- Autodesk Labs

About Vasari
Autodesk® Vasari is an easy-to-use, expressive design tool for creating building concepts. Vasari goes further, with integrated analysis for energy and carbon, providing design insight where the most important design decisions are made. And, when it’s time to move the design to production, simply bring your Vasari design data into the Autodesk® Revit® platform for BIM, ensuring clear execution of design intent.
Vasari is focused on conceptual building design using both geometric and parametric modeling. It supports performance-based design via integrated energy modeling and analysis features.

Quantification in Navisworks 2014

We have been working on the new Navisworks Manage 2014 and we are loving the way that Navisworks has upgraded its version. One of the update that Navisworks has made is in Quantification.

In Navisworks Manage 2014, you can generate quantity take-off of 3d files from different sources. You can create Quantity take off of an entire building information model (BIM) and create synchronized project views that combine information from BIM tools such as Revit® and AutoCAD® software together with geometry, images, and data from other tools.

You can also perform a virtual takeoff for items with no associated model geometry or properties. Your takeoff data can then be exported to Excel for analysis and shared with other project team members in the cloud using Autodesk BIM 360® for optimized collaboration. Quantification can count and measure item quantities associated with these disciplines:

Civil (earth, road, drainage)
Architecture (doors, walls, windows)
Engineering (structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing)
The available measurements are:

Length
Width
Thickness
Height
Perimeter
Area
Volume
Weight
